August
Vacation Bible School - Gethsemane has a different theme each year for it's Vacation Bible School.

September
Wednesday Nights at the Cathedral - Our new Wednesday Nights at the Cathedral begin on Wednesday, September 3.  This includes Holy Eucharist at 5:30pm, a light meal at 6:00pm and Confirmation, rehearsals and other programs at 6:30pm. 

Men's Bible Study - Men's Bible Study resumes on Tuesday, September 9 at 7:00am.

Fall Kick Off Sunday, September 14 - We resume our fall Worship Schedule of 8am, 9am & 11am worship schedule.  At 10:10-10:50am we will have a Sunday School Rally & Ministry Fair

Sunday School Begins, September 21 - We begin Sunday School classes on Sunday, September 21 at 10:10am. 

Special Program on the Temple Mount, Wednesday, September 24 - The most disputed piece of real estate on earth!  We begin with Holy Eucharist at 5:30pm, a light meal at 6pm and the program begins at 6:30pm.  Please click here for more information.

Garden Clean-up, Sunday, September 28 - With all of the construction that has been going this summer, the gardens have taken a beating. We are going to have a garden day clean-up on Sunday, September 28 following the 11:00am service. All members are encouraged to come and help clean up the debris and weeds in the gardens. If we all pitch-in, it won’t take very long.  Burgers and hotdogs will be grilled following the clean-up. So, wear "work" clothes to church on Sunday, bring a pair of gloves and pitch in! It’ll be fun!

Convention Delegate Meetings - All clergy and lay delegates to our Diocesan Convention are asked to attend two special pre-convention meetings during September. The first is at 3:30pm on Sunday, September 21, at Grace Church in Jamestown. The second, for Gethsemane clergy and deputies only, is at 4pm on Sunday, September 28.

Ladies' Night Out - Monday, September 29 at 6:30pm.

Brotherhood of St. Andrew - An informational meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, September 29, for a new men’s ministry at Gethsemane Cathedral.

October
Blessing of the Animals - Every year, we invite you to bring your pets and join us for a  Service of Thanksgiving for St. Francis of Assisi and the Blessing of the Animals.  The traditional emblems of St. Francis are the wolf, the lamb, fish, and bird, which he loved and to which he preached.  He has come to symbolize love and respect for all the creatures of the animal kingdom. 

North Dakota Diocesan Convention - The Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of North Dakota will be in Bismarck.

Stewardship Sunday - When we prayerfully consider our stewardship commitment to God and to Gethsemane.

Fall Celebration/Halloween Party - A party for Gethsemane's church family.  Games & activities for all! Food will be provided. Children--Young and Old--wear your best costumes!

November
All Saints’ Day, November 1 - Evening Prayer with Eucharist at 5:30pm, Special service of remembrance. Please let us know the names of those you would like included in the Prayers.

Thanksgiving Eve Service - A worship service at 7pm with Holy Communion.

December
Greening of the Cathedral - Gethsemane Cathedral transforms into a winter wonderland with fresh cut garland, Christmas trees, lights, bows, poinsettias and ornaments.  Everyone is welcome to help decorate and sing carols and join in this great Gethsemane tradition.

Festival of Lessons & Carols  - Our services at 9am and 11am follow the King’s College Chapel tradition, using the lessons from scripture used at King’s College Chapel. The lessons trace the Christmas story--the story of the Incarnation--beginning with God’s promise to Abraham that through his descendants all the earth will be blessed. The story culminates with the reading of John’s description of the Incarnation from the first chapter of the Gospel bearing his name.

Christmas Eve Services
    4:00pm - A celebration worship with special music.
    11:00pm - The Christmas Festival Eucharist with Bishop Michael Smith preaching and presiding.  A very classical worship celebrating the birth of Jesus.

Christmas Day Service - A traditional worship service at 10:00am.

January
Annual Meeting
- The Annual Meeting of Gethsemane Cathedral is when the budget for the year is approved, reports from different committees are presented and approved, and any other business (new or old) may be discussed.  All members are encouraged to attend.  There will be a blended worship service at 11:00am. 

February
Scout Sunday - We honor Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts at all three services.  Current and past scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms to church!

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper - Shrove Tuesday, an English tradition, is the day before Ash Wednesday, named for “Shriving” or confession performed traditionally on that day.  Also known as Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday” for those who prepare for Lent by making sure they have sins of which to repent.  The Pancake Supper includes:  pancakes with your choice of toppings, sausage, juice, and coffee.

Ash Wednesday - Services at 7:00am, 12:00noon and 5:30pm.

March
Clean-up Week - Spring Cleaning of the building and grounds in preparation for Holy Week.

Holy Week
    Palm Sunday - Services at 8:00am, 9:00am, and 11:00am
    Maundy Thursday - 6:00pm Agape Meal, 7:00pm Holy Eucharist and Foot Washing, Bishop Michael Smith, Presiding
    Good Friday - 12:00noon Eucharist with Stations of the Cross, 7:00pm Good Friday Liturgy, Bishop Michael Smith, Presiding
    Holy Saturday - 12:00noon Eucharist,  7:00pm Great Easter Vigil, Bishop Michael Smith, Presiding
    Easter Sunday - Services at 8:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am, and 5:30pm

May
Recognition Sunday - We recognize our Sunday School students and teachers and confirmation teachers and students at all three services.  This is also the last day of Sunday School.

Summer Schedule Begins - We switch to our summer worship schedule on Sundays at 8:00am & 10:00am.
