The Brotherhood of St. Andrew
An informational meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, September 29, for a new men’s ministry at Gethsemane Cathedral: The Brotherhood of St. Andrew.
Since its founding in 1883 at St. James Episcopal Church in Chicago, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew has grown into an international Anglican and Episcopal organization of men and boys (junior high and older), dedicated to service to the local church and community. The first Brotherhood chapter in Chicago began as a special ministry to the men and boys who lived in tenement houses in the neighborhood. Members went door-to-door in the area and invited people to church — focusing primarily on men and boys
Dean Sellers has been a chaplain in the Brotherhood for 20 years, and he has helped start chapters in three dioceses. The group got its name from St. Andrew, apostle of the Lord Jesus, who, after meeting Jesus, went to his brother Simon Peter and shared the
