Chapter Meeting

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

 

Present: Fr. Steve, Emily Hunt, John Adams, Mark Starkweather, Dale Shook, Betty Kerns, Rob Odney, Charles Stevens, Doug Herman, Mark Harvey, Julie Helgaas, Brandi Deutsch, members from the Foundation and Finances committees.

 

Absent: Liz Overbo, Margie Bailly

 

I. Opened with Evening Prayer at 5:30pm

 

II. Presentation of Treasurer’s Report by John Adams.  Motion to approve as written:

    Charles Stevens Seconded: Mark Starkweather.  Carried.

 

III. How are we going to deal with paying for the rest of the siding project?

            A. Finance Committee will write up a petition for a loan to propose to the chapter,

                 then present to the Foundation Committee

            B. Fr. Steve will send out an e-mail after this is done for voting purposes.

 

IV. Sr. Warden Report – Rob Odney

            A. Rehashing retreat talks.

            B. New Wednesday night programs starting in April

            C. Jack and Warner McNair Scholarship Fund

                        1. Talk with Peggy and Julie about what we could do with the fund

            D. Rejuvenate committees.

 

V. John Adams has stepped down from his job at NDSU and will be looking for work

     outside of ND; he will be stepping down from the Chapter as treasurer.  We will all

     miss John and we wish him all the best!

 

VI. Jr. Warden Report – Charles Stevens

            A. Painted ceiling in Peggy’s office (may need second coat).

            B. Changed dozens of light bulbs in hallways, fireside room, kitchen, and choir

                 room.

            C. Broke up ice on parking lot drain.

            D. Keeping an eye on the sump hole.

            E. Have been inspecting chairs for damage.  Putting damaged chairs aside to be

                 repaired as boy scout project.

            F. Electrician put in new photo cell and timer for parking lot lights; lots of shorts.

            G. Electrician fixed switch in great hall that wasn’t working.

            H. We have asked the custodian to change burned out bulbs in Great Hall and

                 Sanctuary prior to Holy Week.

            I. Have asked the custodian to clean the Great Hall Men’s room.

 

VII. Old Business

            A. Census Review

                        i. As of now we have 51 results back.

                        ii. Next Chapter meeting we will discuss on how to get the non-active

                            members active again.

                        iii. Brandi will send out a reminder e-mail about the census.

                        iv. New pew sheet in small black binders (Dale & Brandi).

 

VIII. Holy Week Offerings

            A. Psalm Sunday to the Discretionary Fund

            B. Maundy Thursday to Churches United for the Homeless

            C. Good Friday to Church of Jerusalem

            D. Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday to the Capital Campaign

   Motion to accept Holy Week offerings: Charles Stevens  Seconded: Doug Herman.

   Carried.

 

IX. Meeting Adjourned with closing prayer by Fr. Steve at 7:30pm.

 

Next Meeting will be Thursday, April 15th, 2010 starting with Evening Prayer at 5:30pm.
